Often and often afterwards, the beloved Aunt would ask me why I had never told anyone how I was being treated. Children tell little more than animals, for what comes to them they accept as eternally established.(Rudyard Kipling)

As parents, we have a tremendous responsibility to our small kids to remember this fact: Whether they admit it or not, our kids take in everything we say and do as absolute truth.

We are their first image of men, of women, of adults in general. And what we teach them through our actions and our words will impact them for the rest of their lives.

We spend way too much time trying to get our kids to do the right things and feel the right ways when in reality, our efforts would better be served elsewhere.

In any situation, pay more attention to how you want to behave and you will be teaching your children self-control, compassion, and maturity. I think we can all agree that those are the kinds of things we want our children to hang on to for eternity.

Peace begins with a pause,
